visit to the in-laws!
well, where to begin. this last wednesday we left for helena, montana to visit mitch's parents. and it was a blast! we loved being able to see the whole family, except for nick who's on his mission in peru. helena is such a cute little quaint town. my favorite place that we visited was this little place called the parrot. it was a super old school ice cream shop with a soda fountain! i could not get over how cute it was. and guess what. i forgot to take pictures. how lame am i! but it just was so eclectic that i could not help but feel that i had been taken back in time. we didn't stop to get anything because it was soooooo cold there and all the stuff that the parrot had wouldn't warm you up. we went to a super cool little flea market place that had a bunch of antique looking things, and things that were just downright hilarious! they sold huge granny panties and i could not stop laughing! and i mean HUGE lol. well the next place we stopped was called the big dipper. another little ice cream shop that played awesome chill music and had super cool decor. the one song that they played that i couldn't get out of my head the rest of the time we were there was seaside by the kooks. we got pictures but they're on my mother-in-laws camera so i will post those ones when i get them. :) and they had the best idea ever. i got a hot chocolate with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream IN it. how clever is that?! it warmed me up in the like 5 degree weather but i still got to enjoy the yummy ice cream they had. i definitely suggest that you try it sometime! on a more outdoorsy note, montana is gorgeous. it's way different from anything i've ever seen before. it is so rural i can't even believe it sometimes. and helena being the capitol but still being such a tiny tiny town just flat out boggles me. some things that i thought were so weird was that they change the speed limit at night on roads to 5 mph less than what they are during the day because of all the different wildlife there. sidenote: they had a heard of antelope across the road in a big field, and they are so freaking CUTE. but anyways, all the stoplights at night change to blinking lights because there's hardly any traffic, so it just becomes a bunch of 4 way stops basically. but who cares. it's nice seeing a town where looks don't matter. well in some cases, some of those locals should've cared if you know what i mean. but it was cool. seeing a bunch of just hardworking individuals who love who they are and what they have no matter what. it was such an awesome experience going up and seeing them. and i can't wait to do it again! but maybe in the summer next time haha.
