my life as a navy wife

First Post!

Well finally decided to get the blog rolling since life is just moving on by in lightning speed! First things first, the great old how we met. Well funny story, we really met in high school but didn't start the whole dating thing till after he got home from his mission. It was about 5 months after my family had decided to move up to Idaho from good ol' SoCal. My Aunt Kristen was in the Stake Young Womens and MADE me go to a priest/laurel speed dating activity. Can you say horrible? Cause I definitely did. Well unbeknownst to me, I was going to meet my future husband that night. If only I knew that at the time though! Anywho, it was like love at first sight. Kid you not! He was soooo cute. And was being super sweet, but I figured that this kid probably was just saying things to say things and because he was just a big flirt. I mean someone that good looking could not possibly be single! Well the 60 second date ended, and I was smitten. Haha, so lame. But I remembered who he was ever since that night. Well one night when I was at branch prayer, like 3 years later. In walks the infamous, well at least in my mind, Mitchell Burton. I FLIPPED. He had just returned from his mission in San Antonio, Texas like the day before. I was going literally insane in the brain. My friend Sydnee knew him since they were like 13 and introduced me. Later on, I did all the moves myself. Well okay, I did have help from a bunch of other people. (Thanks guys!) Believe it or not, but he remembered me from the speed dating activity as well, and what I was wearing! Hahaha. Well the rest is history. We had our first date on November 13, 2009. Which by the way, I was SOOOOOO nervous, that my father had to give me a blessing before going on. How embarrassing is that! We got engaged on January 16, 2010 in the Mount Timanogos Canyons in Utah. And Mitch and I got married on May 13, 2010. Almost 9 months ago, holy cow! It seems like just yesterday. It was AMAZING. We decided to be unique and get the old ball and chain done in the Twin Falls Temple instead of the Boise Temple, because everyone in Boise who is LDS chooses the Boise Temple. Nothing wrong with that one, by all means. It is beautiful.. I just like the Twin Falls one better. It's got that special little place in my heart. Just look at it. I mean, GORGEOUS. By the way, that is us in the middle. And it just so happens to be one of my favorite wedding photos of ours. Anyways! That was one of the best days of my life. Had the most incredible people that shared it with us, and one of my favorite parts of the day was that my grandfather was able to seal us for time and all eternity. So far, the best day of my life.

Well as I said we've been married for almost 9 months and boy has a lot happened since then! We first lived with my parents in the basement for about 5 months to save up money. Good for the money situation, but boy was that difficult! I was my mommy's little girl, and she still liked treating me like one at first. But it made us grow stronger together as a couple, and I definitely ended up having a lot more respect for my parents and everything they sacrifice for their children. Love you both! In July of 2010, Mitch actually joined the US Navy. So I am a proud Navy wife! He actually doesn't leave for his boot camp until February 23. But he'll be a Nuclear Engineer, so crazy stuff! Let's see what else. OH! We got ourselves a puppy! Her name is Koko Chanel. She's half border collie, quarter husky, and a quarter malamute. What a gorgeous girl! She was born on September 26 of last year, so she's a little over 4 months old right now. And on our little Koko's 3 month birthday, we found out that we're going to be having another new addition to the Burton Bunch! We are super excited for everything that's to come with that little bundle of joy! I'm due on September 3rd and we are fighting over whether we're going to have an August baby, which is my month. Or a September baby, which is Mitch's month. So cross your fingers for August! ;) Oh, and that it's a boy. I REALLLLLY want a boy! So I'm 10 weeks exactly today, and I can already tell that this baby is a problem child, just like their father. I am sick almost every morning, but I know it will be worth it all in the end. And something else that is going to be a big change in our life is that we will be moving to Charleston, South Carolina around the beginning of May. Crazy things have happened in the 9 months that we've been married, but we know that there is a purpose for everything, and the Lord is keeping an eye on us. We are really excited about everything and will be keeping all you future followers posted!
